DTB was a Platinum sponsor of the 3rd edition of the EAC Investment Conference (EACIC) which took place at Speke Resort, Munyonyo, Kampala from 28 – 30 April 2010.The EACIC is an annual event held on rotation in the EAC Partner States (Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda). The conference brought together hundreds of participants from both the private and public sectors from within the EAC, USA, Asia, and Europe. The conference agenda included panel discussions from renowned speakers on relevant investment issues, private public dialogues, bilateral meetings, as well as business networking sessions. DTB chaired a session where one of the panelists was the Governor of Central Bank of Rwanda.

DTB RATED AS BEST BANK IN QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE, YET AGAIN
Kampala, October 5, 2009 – Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) was rated as the Best Bank in Quality Customer Service for the second consecutive year in the ‘Ani Mukozi’ (People’s Verdict) Award, recognized by the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) under the category of Banks.
Ani Mukozi award is given to various segments to recognize institutions that have excelled in service quality and adhered to the highest standards of service.
The Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Varghese Thambi said, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award from KACITA, the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Kampala. At DTB we are committed to giving our focused attention to the SME sector, which is key in the economic development of the country”. DTB has grown its network to 15 branches including 10 branches in Kampala out of which 5 branches work from 8 am to 8 pm including Sundays, for the convenience of our customers.

DTB launches more branches across Uganda
Tuesday, August 14, 2009……DTB has announced a significant expansion of its branch network, with the opening of five new branches across Uganda, increasing its total branch network to 14.
The bank is set to open a new branch at the recently opened Nakumatt supermarket chain at Oasis Mall in Kampala and one branch each in Busia, Ndeeba, Lira and Malaba.
The Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Verghese Thambi, said, “DTB is on an aggressive growth path and wants to be a part of every community in Uganda, closer to the customer.
He added, “that is why we are on an aggressive branch expansion program across the country with one more opening in Kampala shortly.”
Out of the five new branches, three branches namely Nakumatt-Kampala, Busia and Malaba will be open for extended banking hours from 8 am to 9pm from Monday to Saturday and from 10.00am to 4.00 pm on Sundays and public holidays, 7 days a week.
In the financial year ending December 2008, the bank’s customer deposits swelled by a significant 119%, from Ushs 54 billion in 2007 to Ushs 119 billion. The loan book went up markedly by 104% from Ushs 37 billion to Ushs 76 billion.
DTB group’s parent bank signed a Kshs 2 billion financing package with IFC (International Finance Corporation) last year, to support DTB group’s expansion plans and to enable it to increase lending toSME. Following this the group has set in motion an aggressive expansion strategy aimed at increasing its footprint across the East African markets from the current 40 to 55 branches by the end of this year.

DTB Expansion Programme
A number of new initiatives have been planned for DTBU in 2008; they include the introduction of ATM services, the introduction of Visa Electron Credit Card services, the introduction of SMS banking and the introduction of Internet banking. The Bank will also expand its network in 2008 by opening five new branches.
