Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania VISA Launch

Diamond Trust Bank Tanzania has launched its international VISA Electron Debit Card and Classic Credit Card in a colorful function held at Kempinski, Dar es Salaam on 4th March 2009. The products were unveiled by Deputy Minister of Finance & Economic Affairs, Hon Omar Yusuf Mzee, in the presence of Hon. Lawrence Masha, Minister of Home Affairs. The event was witnessed by more than 250 people from in and around Dar es Salaam.

The International VISA Credit Card, a premium product, will help its high net worth customers to travel around the world without the burden of carrying cash. The DTB VISA Classic Credit Card is accepted in more the 29 million Merchant establishments and over one million ATMs worldwide. The Bank offers an interest free credit period of up to 50 days for the usage of its credit card.

Mr. Viju Cherian, Country Manager & CEO Diamond Trust Bank, Tanzania, said that the Bank will offer Zero monthly charges Savings Account to its customers along with its newly launched VISA Debit card at no additional cost. According to him the 10,000TZS minimum balance DTB Value Savings Account will encourage Tanzanians to open an account with DTB. He also confirmed the Bank’s commitment towards the economic growth of Tanzania and said that the Bank’s branch expansion plan is in full swing. The Bank has six branches in Tanzania covering Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Arusha regions and plans to increase its branch network to 14 by the end of this financial year.

Recently the Bank rationalized its tariff in order to encourage customers to use the banking channel rather than depending on cash transactions in their day to day business. The reduction in banking charges is to make transaction cost for both commercial and savings far more reasonable than before. According to DTB Head of Retail, Mr. Pramodh Menon, the DTB banking tariff is one of the most competitive in the market and all Retail, SMEs & Corporate customers can reduce their banking overheads by transacting through Diamond Trust Bank.
